I wasn’t sure if you’d noticed, but you haven’t recommended any books by Black writers (you do have Asian and Native American) in your Guardian round up. It would be really nice to hear about new voices who aren’t just white. The teen and kids round up always features writers of colour and it would be nice if this were the pattern else where. If I’ve missed anything, I’m happy to stand corrected.
Hi – Thanks for this. I’ve reviewed the following black writers in the Guardian SF, Fantasy and Horror round-up: Agnes Gomillion, N.K. Jemison, Micaiah Johnson, Karen Lord, Temi Oh, Nnedi Okorafor and Tade Thompson. I’ve also reviewed two anthologies edited by Ivor W. Hartmann, AfroSFv2 and AfroSFv3, which contain tales by black writers. Cheers.
